MISSION STATEMENT:

“The Journey” exists to REACH STUDENTS, EQUIP them to live a life DEVOTED to God, build life-long FRIENDSHIPS, and SERVE OTHERS while demonstrating the love of Christ.

The Journey is the student ministry (grades 7-12) at The Pointe at Providence.  In “The Journey”, we want students to understand that life in itself is a journey and that in this world people often put too much focus on the end result of life and not enough on the journey that leads us there.

Here at “The Pointe” we believe that “The Journey” challenges the students to be “Great Commandment” (Matt. 22:37-40) and “Great Commission” (Matt. 28:18-20) minded.

Our purpose draws on five principles found in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission:

1.     Fellowship (FRIENDSHIPS)

2.     Evangelism (REACH STUDENTS)

3.     Discipleship (EQUIP)

4.     Worship (DEVOTED)

5.     Ministry (SERVE OTHERS)

 

Here at “The Journey”, we also teach on “The Seven Checkpoints”, seven principles every teenager needs to know, as developed by Andy Stanley and Stuart Hall.  These seven checkpoints are:

 

1.     Authentic Faith—Putting Your Trust in God

2.     Spiritual Disciplines—Seeing With God’s Eyes

3.     Moral Boundaries—Paving the Way for Intimacy

4.     Healthy Friendships—Choosing Friends for Life

5.     Wise Choices—Walking Wisely in a Fool’s World

6.     Ultimate Authority—Finding Freedom under God

7.     Others First—Considering Others before Yourself

 

Through these purposes and principles, our prayer is that every teenager will not only experience spiritual growth, but develop a life that is “Great Commandment” and “Great Commission” minded.
